Animals enrich many of our lives. To aid the plight of endangered species, October 4th (is the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals) was crowned 'World Animal Day'. Now a worldwide event focusing on animals great and small, domesticated and wild, it is a special day to show your love and respect for your fellow creatures:
"MISSION STATEMENT - WORLD ANIMAL DAY
- To celebrate animal life in all its forms
- To celebrate humankind’s relationship with the animal kingdom
- To acknowledge the diverse roles that animals play in our lives – from being our companions, supporting and helping us, to bringing a sense of wonder into our lives
- To acknowledge and be thankful for the way in which animals enrich our lives"(taken from the world animal day website)
So if you didn't get chance to join in this year, prepare yourself and get started ready for next.
But remember it doesn't have to just be for one day of the year, find ways to help animals everyday.
